The heartbreaking novel The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a story of life and loss. The book follows Hazel a terminally-ill teenage cancer patient. She attends a support group where she meets Augustus Waters, a fellow cancer patient in remission. After meeting him her life completely changes for the better, not without tragedy and heartbreak trailing close behind. Due to the content of this book, I’d recommend it for mature audiences. This book contains references and depictions of cancer, alcoholism, death, sickness, grieving, hospitals, and mentions of the Holocaust. If readers enjoyed other novels by John Green or The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, they may enjoy this novel, as they have similar concepts and themes.
