POYNETTE AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 6:00 pm

Call to Order and Roll Call - The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM by Vice President Linda Ross. Attending the meeting were Board Members Joni DeYoung, Darcy Miller, Linda Ross, Jerry Pritzl, Dave Tessmer, and Meghan Visger. Board Member Jason Koopmans was unable to attend. Library Director Jodi Bailey was also present.

Adoption of Agenda - A motion to adopt the agenda made by Miller, seconded by Visger; Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes from December 13, 2022 Meeting - A motion to adopt the December meeting minutes as presented was made by Pritzl, seconded by DeYoung; Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report Presented by Treasurer Linda Ross - The library checking account at Hometown Bank has a balance of $20,056.14 as of December 30, 2022 (due to an e-deposit of Alliant Energy Foundation bookmobile grant funds). The SCLS Foundation account has a balance of $1,696.18 as of December 31, 2022.
Current Budget Review - Director Bailey presented the budget.
Director’s Report - Library staff and our new Bookmobile participated in the Chamber's "Christmas in the Village" parade, on December 3rd. Even though it was a very chilly evening, the community really turned out to support this fun event. The Friends of Poynette Library gave out free books to children during the parade. The Library was closed due to inclement weather on Dec. 15 & 22, per our Emergency Closing Policy. The Library closed at noon on Friday, December 23, and remained closed Saturday, December 24 & Monday, and December 26 in observance of the Christmas holidays. The staff attended several webinars, classes, and meetings throughout the month for planning purposes, continuing education, safety training, and community involvement.
Village of Poynette Meeting Update – DeYoung shared there are three open seats on the Village Board. A new police officer was hired and will be attending the police academy before serving in the Poynette community. The Parks Department has ordered new signs for the local parks. The Poynette Fire Department helped with the large fire in Portage. The Portage Fire Department was very grateful for their prompt assistance. The Public Works Department will have trees available for village residents. They will be available beginning at the first Poynette Farmers Market of 2023. The Village is hiring an architectural firm to make sure all buildings are ADA-compliant, including the library. The architect will prepare a conceptual improvement plan for some under-utilized space in the library building.
Friends of the Library Report - Director Bailey shared that the Friends made about $3,200 on the Silent Auction. They made a donation which helped cover the cost of Winter Reading Program prize baskets.
Business:
1. Approval of Vouchers for Library - DeYoung made a motion to accept the vouchers as presented, seconded by Miller; Motion carried.
2. Approval of Alliant Energy Foundation grant funds to be transferred from the Library Board checking account to LBRY - Donations - Bookmobile (Village account) – Poynette Village Clerk, Natalie Megow, created an account to assist in keeping Bookmobile donations separate from other donated funds received. DeYoung made a motion to transfer the funds; seconded by Tessmer; Motion carried.
3. Discuss/consider South Central Library System Foundation (SCLSF) Poynette Library Fund Policy - Director Bailey shared the SCLS Foundation Report and the Board reviewed the policy that pertains to it. It was decided that no changes needed to be made at this time.
4. Discuss/consider Library Board investment options - No changes were made.
5. Discuss/consider Library Board member terms set to expire in 2023 - Board Member Tessmer's term expires in June 2023. Tessmer plans on staying on the Library Board.
6. Discuss Agenda Items for the Next Meeting on February 14, 2023 - Business Agenda items 1, adopt the 2022 Annual Report, as well as any items that may arise in the meantime.
