POYNETTE AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING

Call to Order and Roll Call - The meeting was called to order at 5:01 PM by President Jason Koopmans. Attending the meeting were Board Members Darcy Miller, Linda Ross, Jason Koopmans, Joni DeYoung, Dave Tessmer, Jerry Pritzl, and Meghan Visger. Library Director Jodi Bailey was also present.

Public Comments - None
Adoption of Agenda - A motion to adopt the agenda was made by Ross, seconded by Tessmer; Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes from February 14, 2023 Meeting - A motion to adopt the February meeting minutes as presented was made by Ross, seconded by Miller; Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report Presented by Treasurer Linda Ross - The library checking account at Bank First has a balance of $5,129.54 as of February 28, 2023. The SCLS Foundation account has a balance of $1,736.49 as of February 28, 2023.
Current Budget Review - Director Bailey presented the budget.
Director’s Report - The library was closed on February 9th, 22nd, and 23rd due to inclement weather. The Friends of Poynette Library are willing to provide financial assistance with updating the Adult Quiet Reading Room. Director Bailey has begun meeting with contractors to obtain estimates. The staff attended several webinars, classes, and meetings throughout the month for planning purposes, continuing education, safety training, and community involvement.
Village of Poynette Meeting Update - DeYoung shared at the March 13 meeting, there was a volunteer recognition celebration in honor of Gary Laib. The Point Gardens neighborhood broke ground on March 13th. The Village of Poynette Police Dept. and the Poynette School District discussed possible collaboration in hiring a School Resource Officer. Moving forward with this new position depends on the referendum passing in April.
Friends of the Library Report - Director Bailey shared the Friends are considering purchasing a security camera for the library’s rear entrance. They voted to purchase flowers for planters in the front and rear of the library building. The Friends voted to make a generous donation toward the cost of National Library Week programming. They also plan to support other upcoming programs, including Christmas with Santa in December, 2023.
Business:
1. Approval of Vouchers for Library - DeYoung made a motion to accept the vouchers as presented, seconded by Pritzl; Motion carried.
2. Approval to renew the “Library Storage Space Rental Sublease Agreement” - The lease ended February 1st and will be reviewed and renewed yearly, per Library Board policy. Koopmans made a motion to continue the lease agreement as presented to the same tenant; Miller seconded; Motion carried.
3. Discuss/review DPI’s Trustee Essentials
4. Notice provided to Village Clerk to renew Mr. Tessmer’s Library Board term.
5. Discuss Agenda Items for the Next Meeting on April 18, 2023 - Business Agenda items 1 and 5, review the Strategic Plan, as well as any items that may arise in the meantime.
