Burn by Patrick Ness is a thrilling tale of Washington in 1957, in a world similar to ours. There is one key difference, the existence of dragons. A prophecy will come to light that will threaten the lives of millions of people, and young Sarah Dewhurst will have to fight to save herself, her loved ones, and the small town she has called home her whole life. Meanwhile, learning things about the world she never could have imagined. Due to the content in this novel, it is likely suitable for teen audiences and older. The following is mentioned or depicted in this novel: murder, assassins, religious cults, violence, racism, sexism, fires, and mass destruction. This book also has occasional swearing and a few uses of slurs. If readers enjoyed other books by Patrick Ness, including Release or Monsters of Men, they would likely enjoy this novel.
