Macy is a 16-year-old girl, left grieving for the summer after the unexpected loss of her father. With her dad gone and her boyfriend, Jason, leaving for the summer she is left to practice SATs and be the perfect girl her mom wants her to be. Her sister, Caroline, is a house designer and is determined to upgrade her father's favorite place, the beach house. This causes conflict with their mom and leads Macy to have to quit the new job she just got with a catering company. She has to leave all of her new friends that she would have considered family and the guy she thought she liked.
This book is the start of new relationships with her family and the romance of meeting someone new. Along with ending old relationships like with Jason and his family. Macy has to figure out where her heart is and whos going to be willing to take it. While figuring out what's going to happen to her family with the loss of her father, who had the goofy side, she's left with her strict, perfect mom. Sarah Dessen spins a great story about teens who have to figure out what going on in their life while dealing with heartache and the aftermath of certain life-changing events. I loved this book! It is full of twists and turns and wanting to figure out what is going to happen next. I definitely recommend reading this book.
