A heart-warming novel about the seemingly impossible musical companionship between a boy and a bird, Duet by Elise Broach is a sweet and light-hearted. Mirabelle, a young goldfinch that has a gift for singing, lives in the backyard of a former piano teacher. He decides to take on a new student, the reluctant prodigy Michael. After a magical duet, these two have an immense musical bond. This book is aimed at younger audiences, and for that reason would be appropriate for almost all audiences old enough to read and understand the material and concepts. Readers that enjoyed other books by Broach, such as Masterpiece or Shakespeare's Secret would enjoy this novel.
