POYNETTE AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 5:00 pm

Call to Order and Roll Call - The meeting was called to order at 5:04 PM by Vice President Linda Ross. Board Members Linda Ross, Joni DeYoung, Jerry Pritzl, and Meghan Visger attended the meeting. Library Director Jodi Bailey was also present. Brittney Jackson and Darcy Miller attended remotely. President Jason Koopmans was unable to attend.

Public Comments - None
Adoption of Agenda - A motion to adopt the agenda was made by Pritzl, seconded by Miller; Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes from May 14, 2024 - A motion to adopt the May meeting minutes as presented was made by Pritzl, seconded by DeYoung; Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report Presented by Treasurer Linda Ross - The library checking account at Bank First has a balance of $5,465.25 as of April 30, 2024. The SCLS Foundation account has a balance of $1,938.52 as of April 30, 2024. The updated statements have not arrived yet.
Current Budget Review - Director Bailey presented the budget.
Director’s Report - Jodi Bailey attended the WAPL Conference on May 2. The second-grade teachers and students learned about the library on their community tour on May 21st. Katy Hanousek and Director Bailey took the bookmobile to Poynette Middle School on May 22nd and 23rd to teach 6th graders how to request materials on LINKcat and to use OverDrive. The new Library Assistant, Shannon Erb, joined the staff family on May 29th. Dave Kreklow’s last day is June 13th. The library appreciates his dedicated years of service and wishes him well in retirement. Bryce Kitson finished the installation of the awesome bookmobile exterior wrap. The Bookmobile Committee and library staff hope the community enjoys seeing the artwork they submitted. We’re very appreciative of Bryce and the Kitson family, Bell Ford, and the Alliant Energy Foundation for their generous commitment to helping us achieve this incredible community outreach goal. The Summer Reading Program kicked off on June 3rd. There are already 240 participants signed up. The staff attended several webinars, classes, and monthly meetings for planning purposes, continuing education, and safety training. Community involvement in May included utilizing the Bookmobile to deliver books supporting the Pioneer Place outreach program, in-home daycare deliveries, local community events and home-bound deliveries.
Village of Poynette Meeting Update - DeYoung shared that there’s not an update yet on the DOA grant. The Poynette Police Dept. was approached by the Town of Dekorra to possibly contract for future police services. Movies in the Park had over 100 people attend. There has been a delayed start to installing the new playground equipment due to the rain.
Friends of the Library Update - Director Bailey attended the meeting on June 4. The Friends would like to purchase a table for the small conference room. Director Bailey will contact SCLS for a quote. The Friends Board President submitted a letter to the PACE Board asking for clarification before using grant funds. They asked Director Bailey to look into collaborating on a fence purchase for the outdoor pergola area with the Village and the adjoining property owner.
Business:
Approval of Vouchers for Library - DeYoung made a motion to accept the vouchers as presented, seconded by Visger; Motion carried.
Bookmobile Committee update: Final meeting held June 11th at 4:30 pm - The bookmobile is finished! The Committee went outside to admire the amazing bookmobile.
Discuss update from Library Space Planning Committee: First meeting May 21st at 4:00 PM - Director Bailey shared that DeYoung took notes and sent them to Craig Malin, Village Administrator, who is working on the DOA grant.
Mid-year check of 2024 Budget revenue and expenditures – Board confirmed current budget is on track.
Discuss Agenda Items for the Next Meeting on July 9, 2024 - Business Agenda items 1, 3, select the 2025 Budget Committee, and any items that may arise.
