In the novel You’ll be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus, three teenagers that used to be best friends come together again only to be thrown head first into a murder mystery. Ivy, Cal, and Mateo used to be super close but now the only thing they have in common is a shared high school and a horrible morning. The three meet that morning in the parking lot and impulsive decide to skip school, however, this decision proves to be a bad one when they later become witnesses and possible suspects in a murder. Even worse, they all have something to hide.
The only thing that I really didn’t like about this book was that it was very similar to other books by Karen M. McManus such as One of Us is Lying. While it seems that McManus definitely writes similar books, this one in particular followed some different topics than her other books. For example, this book discussed topics such as drugs, affairs, and petty revenge rather than, suicide or being closeted. Since this is the case, if these topics (drugs or murder) effect you, this probably is a book you should be weary of. While this is true, book has some very good plot twists and I would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of mystery novels.
